Minion hat

I made this hat up as I went. I started out using Sarah’srepeatcrafterme.com Owl hat child size.. Like the hats in previous posts. (I love her patterns!)
When I got to round-9 I changed the yarn to black and followed the instructions for rounds 9-11 in black, then changed the color back to yellow and finished rounds 12-13. Then I did 1 round in blue of DC’s and followed the instructions to finish the hat. I made a single eye like the owl eyes only the final round of single stitches using gray, I worked in on the chain loop facing me only so that it made the gray/silver look more 3-D to look like goggles.
I did use a G-hook because I wanted the hat smaller.

More owl hats by Knotty Becca!

Another owl hat that I churned out. These are so much fun!

This hat is being modeled by the one and only Hulk Hogan. :) Not bad on such a short notice!

This is not my pattern. I have to give all the credit to fellow crafter, Sarah @RepeatCrafterMe.com.
Her patterns are so well written, and she has graciously shared several of her patterns on her web site.

Dealing with life.

I am behind is sharing my latest crochet projects because life has tossed a monkey wrench so to speak in the works.
On July 29th I was diagnosed with Sarcoma Cancer.
Here is my personal blog with updates as I need to rant while waiting for tests, and surgery and lastly prognoses. http://her-royal-highness-blog.blogspot.com/
I have been crocheting a couple hats. It seems morbid, but I was planning ahead in case I need chemo. Wow that sounds depressing! Enough hats for now.

Sun hat for Red Hats Gal

My Mother-In-Law belongs to “Red Hat Society". I wanted to make her a Red Hat that no other hatter would wear. (Her in my creation at the bottom)
The inspiration for this hat came from Clare of “BobWilson123”. In her pattern and YouTube video she shows how to make a basic mesh hat and a brim that can be used on any hat pattern. So I took this pattern and ran with it.
See it here on Ravelry

I used a G-hook for hat and brim. She suggests a smaller hook for brim that resulted in a ruffly looking brim.
I used 2 colors of Carron worsted weight yarn. (acrylic yarn makes it stiffer I feel).
I mostly followed the pattern directions with some minor changes for the look I wanted.
With color “A” I worked rounds 1,2,3 & 4 skipped 5 My head measured approx 22 inches (the cap turned out too big with this round) I worked 6 rows with color “A” of round 6 and 3 rows with color “B”.
Brim: With color “A” worked round 1 skip to round 3 (rnd 2 made it too “ruffly”) Worked 10 rows, finish with a few slip stitches. The second hat, this white and black one only took 3 hours to hook!

I added some Roses
directions HERE
and Wa La!

Not just the wind whipping things up!

These last few days has been really windy here in Sacramento, CA. So I don't feel like working out in the yard much. SO I chose to crochet.
This is what I whipped up.
A shower slash kitchen scrubby by Andrea with the fiber forum. Pattern here.

I already tested it out in the shower this morning. (No pics of that) :)
and I made a water bottle sling by Moogley; ,
My project page on Raverly here

Now I am starting Mays squares in the Raverly 2013BAMCAL.
Also the Moogly Mystery Crochet-A-Long for this week.

I love a good mystery!
Hopefully the wind calms down. The weeds can't wait!

My big bag for chub dog food or french bread.

This was a bag I came up with out of need. I buy my dog fresh dog food in a chub like tube. It's 16 inches long and has metal clips closing the ends. SO these chubs wont fit in normal grocery bags or totes and the metal rips the plastic bag. It is also heavy. 6lbs.

So why not crochet a bag for this need?

This bag measures 22 inches long. Plenty big for the dog food chub and also a loaf of french bread!

I also found that yarn fits just fine. :) I made the bag as one panel starting at one side along the top edge using hdcr and finishing the other side top edge then scr the sides to complete. The strap is one big loop made with HDC and stitched on the bag. I finished it just in time. My dog is almost out of food. Time to head to the pet store!

My name is Becca, and I am a crochet addict!

I have a confession to make.
I am a crochet addict!

Admitting your addiction is the first step to recovery. I am addicted to crochet web sites, I download every free pattern I see, I shop often for yarn and crochet notions, I hoard craft supplies all over my house. I am addicted!

Don't misunderstand me. I am by no means asking for help with this addiction. I just wanted to come clean, and crochet on!

I thought I would try to get organized and make a list of all the yarn I own. I wrote it down, until I got bored and my hand hurt. Then I took photos. These were taken a month ago. By the time I uploaded them I also had a new bag of yarn I just brought home from Michael's not included in these pictures.

I am running out of space to store this yarn, not to mention places to display my completed work!

I was displaying granny square I made in the Ravelry 2013BAMCAL on a cork board, but ran out of board. I told my kids that I am leaving my half done projects and yarn to them in my will to sort out. They don't seem to amused by that. Oh well.

I don't even want to tell you about the crochet hooks I own. I have plastic, aluminum, soft, or cushy, large and small. I have some nifty places to stash those!

I feel much better. Here is a short list of links that I frequent. I feel like a drunk giving you the addresses of bars I frequent.
* Michael's
* Ravelry.com
* AllFreeCrochet.com
* BobWilson123.org NEW SITE!
* Lion Brand Yarn

Enjoy the list. If you see my car out front stop in and say hi!
